Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText

PATH's Vaccine Resource Library (VRL) gathers immunisation resources in a single website. The resources found on the VRL are collected from a variety of sources, such as scientific journals, websites, news media, and public health practitioners, as well as suggestions from VRL users. In addition to resources developed by PATH, the VRL contains materials published by international leaders in public health, including the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the GAVI Alliance, and many others. Its contents reflect those areas being addressed and advanced by PATH projects.

The VRL offers materials on specific diseases and topics in immunisation addressed by PATH's work, including:

As noted here, "Free access to journal articles for users in the developing world: Access to Research.... Some resources in the VRL require a subscription to view the full text. The World Health Organization’s (WHO) Health InterNetwork Access to Research Initiative (HINARI) provides free or very low cost online access to the major journals in biomedical and related social sciences to local, not-for-profit institutions in developing countries."
