Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Positive Health Training DVD Tool Box

SummaryText
This training kit was developed by Empowerment Concepts and Penga Productions in response to demands for training from individuals and organisations from countries that found it difficult to attend their Positive Living training, and corporates for use in training to engage personnel in Wellness programmes. The boxset includes: a two-hour DVD (and VHS cassette); CD with PDF copy of the Positive Living Training Manual; a hard copy of Positive Health, and the Facilitator's Guide.

According to the producers, the training is a practical ‘how to’ guide. It explains what to do (eat, exercise, hygiene, attitude) to maintain a healthy immune function, complementary to medical treatment. A range of alternative options are provided to the viewers from different economic backgrounds. For example, which foods contain specific nutrients, plus specifics regarding equivalent vitamin supplements.

The primary focus of the DVD is wellness. There are five main chapters to the visual material:
  • Chapter 1: Introduction: Your health is in your hands.
  • Chapter 2: Your Immune System: An animated cartoon introduction to what the immune system is, and how it functions.
  • Chapter 3: Good Food & Clean Stomach: A practical how-to-do-it section about nutrition and exercises to keep the immune system strong.
  • Chapter 4: Home Remedies: Practical home and plant-based immune strengthening and treatment of minor conditions.
  • Chapter 5: Healthy Mind: Applied mind-body methods and principles to support immune function.
