Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

2010 Getting Attention Nonprofit Tagline Awards and Report

This third annual Nonprofit Tagline Awards programme highlights non-profit taglines that deliver a focused, memorable, and repeatable message. Each year since 2008, the GettingAttention.org website has invited non-profit communicators to participate in the annual programme, entering their own taglines and spreading the word to peers to do the same, voting to select award winners, and learning what works and what doesn’t via the updated Tagline Report published each year.

According to Wikipedia.org: "A tagline is a variant of a branding slogan typically used in marketing materials and advertising. The idea behind the concept is to create a memorable phrase that will sum up the tone and premise of a brand or product (like a film), or to reinforce the audience's memory of a product. Some taglines are successful enough to warrant inclusion in popular culture." Examples from the awards website include: "Big Sky. Big Land. Big History."; "Holding Power Accountable"; and "Finding a cure now…so our daughters won’t have to."
